"William Coffin, aged 92 years, died last evening at his home in Adel. Bur. there. Only son of Hervey C. and Rachel Coffin, pioneer residents of this county, and he was 92 Jan. 17. Boyhood was spent in this county near Pleasant Plain until the time of the Civil War when he enlisted and served three years. After his return he and his wife, formerly Miss Luzena Shelly, drove an ox team and wagon to Dallas County, and located on a farm three miles from Adel. Last August he and his wife celebrated their 69th wedding anniversary. Survived by wive and two daughters, Malinda and Jennie, both of Adel. He also leaves one sister, Mrs. Jones of Veo, who is the last surviving member of a family of ten children."
