PLEASANT PLAIN. John CARSE, one of the oldest and most respected citizens of Penn township, died at his residence in Pleasant Plain Monday morning at 4:30 o'clock.... John CARSE was born in County Down, Ireland, in Aug. 1819. In 1835 he came to this country, settling among the hills of Pennsylvania. Seven years later he removed to Jefferson County and for 58 years has resided here. In 1846 he married Miss Margaret PARK of Walnut township, by whom he had eight children, five girls and three boys, all of whom are now living.

Admin. addendum, 18 Mar 2012. Buried in Pleasant Plain Friends Cemetery with wife Margaretta who died in 1910.
