"LeRoy Wilfred Chalupa, 52, former state representative from Jefferson County, died Mon. at Veterans Hospital in Iowa City. Funeral at Friends church in Pleasant Plain; burial in the Friends Cemetery at Pleasant Plain. Raymond Funeral Home. . . . .Farmer and businessman. Born Dec. 13 1912 at Pleasant Plain, son of Frank and Katharine Hoefert Chalupa. Reared and educated in Pleasant Plain and attended Parsons College in Fairfield. Married Mar. 20 1935, at the Little Brown Church at Nashua, Iowa, Dora Anderson. Served as Mayor of Pleasant Plain. Member of the Scottish Rite Bodies, Consistory, 32nd Degree Mason, member of the Shrine, BPO Elks, the VFW, American Legion, Farm Bureau and Isaac Walton League. Survived by wife, one son, Dennis, at home; two daughters, Mrs. Keith (Shirley) Halverson, Marion, Iowa; and Mrs. Gordon (Beverly) Watson, Richland; 3 grandchildren; his mother, Mrs. Frank Chalupa, Pleasant Plain; two sisters, Mrs. Dale Tucker, New London; and Mrs. Wilbur Forbes, Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by his father."
