"Dr. Thomas S. Mealey, one of the best known men of the county, and we might add truthfully, one of the best men in the county, died at his home near Pleasant Plain yesterday morning about 1 o'clock. He lacked one month and 17 days of being 81 years old. He was the friend of the poor man, always loyal to what was good and true in everything that goes to make up a grand and noble American citizen. His remains will be buried at Brighton tomorrow, Wednesday, afternoon. The funeral services will be held at the church in Pleasant Plain at 1 o'clock."
