COFFIN Funeral Will Be Friday

Jasper D. COFFIN, 85, died at 12:40 a.m. today at the Nelson Nursing Home. The family home is at 301 E. Briggs.

Last rites will be Friday, Dec. 29, at 1:30 p.m. at the Raymond Funeral Home with the Rev. Wade Dillavou officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

Jasper D. COFFIN was born Feb. 23, 1887, in Kansas, the son of William and Mary Ellen GATES COFFIN. He was reared and educated in the Richland community.

He was married to Bertie (a/k/a 'Jane') FRANZ in 1910 at Fairfield. She preceded him in death. Later he was married to Grace SYLVESTER in 1935 in Fairfield. She survives.

COFFIN was a retired farmer and a former Louden employe. He was a member of the Friends Church.

Survivors include six daughters, Ruth COFFIN, Moline, Ill.; Mrs. Lucile KOCH, Brighton; Mrs. Katherine JOHNSON, Moline; Mrs. Karen LOVELESS, California; Mrs. Bonnie GALBRAITH, Sandyville; Mrs. Myrna LEYDEN, Fairfield.

Also eight sons, Howard, Donnellson; Raymond, Birmingham; Ronald, Enid, Okla.; Russell, Ottumwa; Clifford, Steve and David, all of Des Moines; Miles, Agency; 29 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, three step-children, Mrs. Goldie CAVENER, Miami, Fla.; Mrs. Ramona LOUCKS, Phoenix, Ariz.; Mrs. Patricia CARROLL, Ottumwa; 12 step-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Bernadine BATES, and Mrs. Irene BELL, both of Fairfield.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, two sisters and one grandson.
