Kenneth "Blake" SCOVEL, 53, of Keosauqua died at 9:04 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 22, 1998, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
Graveside service will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Fell Cemetery near Libertyville with the Rev. David Albert officiating. A burial with military rites will be held. Family and friends are invited to the Libertyville Community Center following the graveside rites. Family visitation will be 6:30 - 8 p.m. today at Behner Funeral Home. A memorial has been established to the family.
Mr. SCOVEL was born Aug. 24, 1944, in Fairfield, the son of Vernon "Scoop" and Marjorie Pearl MCCLEARY SCOVEL. He married Rochelle BECKER March 28, 1985, in Keosauqua. He lived most of his life in the Libertyville community until moving to Keosauqua in 1981. He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1962. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He was an employee of Barker Wire Co. in Keosauqua. He enjoyed Harley Davidson Motorcycles, guns, puzzles and reading.
Survivors include his wife; two sons and one daughter, James Dean SCOVEL of Mount Union, Cheyne Adam, and Jessi Adam, both of Iowa City; one brother, Tony SCOVEL of Fairfield; and several cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and an infant daughter, Jennifer (sic. Jennifer Rivera SCOVEL was born/died Sept 28, 1977 and is also buried in Fell Cemetery).
