McLAIN, Dorothy Rita -- Dorothy Rita McLAIN, 93, died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2010, at Sunrise Terrace Care in Winfield.

A service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield, with the Rev. Peggy Egbert officiating. Burial will be in New Sweden United Methodist Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the New Sweden United Methodist Church building fund and sent to Diane BROKKEN, 2998 239th St., Fairfield 52556.

Mrs. McLAIN was born Dec. 17, 1916, in West Liberty, the daughter of Charles Arthur and Erma Emma CARTER BUCKMAN. She married H. Dale McLAIN March 30, 1935, at the Methodist parsonage in Birmingham.

Mrs. McLAIN graduated from Conesville High School in 1934.

She was a charter member of Old Threshers Reunion and attended from 1950-2009.

Mrs. McLAIN made clothes for premature babies in hospitals and enjoyed making crafts, including decorating dolls for First National Bank's Christmas.

Survivors include seven children, Karen GEYSBEEK of Sebring, Fla., John McLAIN and wife Pat of Lockridge, Ronald McLAIN of Tucson, Ariz., Judith MEYER and husband Bruce of Reading, Pa., Dianne BROKKEN and husband Leo of Fairfield, Martha HENDERSON and husband Bob of Stockport and Rebekah SCHWARZ and husband Jim of Fairfield; five siblings, Viola DOTSON of Atalissa, Maxine LEE of Phoenix, Ariz., Norma BAUGHMAN of Iowa City, Edwin BUCKMAN of Joliet, Ill., and Carole KACENA of Iowa City; 26 grandchildren; and 46 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; one son, David McLAIN; five siblings, Charles BUCKMAN, Donald BUCKMAN, Ruth SOLOMAN, Ethel HAUGHTON and Lyle BUCKMAN; one grandson; and twin great-grandsons.
