Rebba KEELER LEATHERS, 97, of Fairfield died at 6:15 a.m. Saturday, June 29, 2002 at the long-term care unit of the Jefferson County Hospital.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield with Rev. Mike Metz officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Raymond's this evening from 7 to 8 p.m.
Memorials have been established to the long-term care unit at Jefferson County Hospital and to the First United Methodist Church.
Mrs. LEATHERS was born Oct. 28, 1904 in Mt. Sterling, the daughter of Warren Rosswell and Sarh Jane POLING KEELER. She married Glenn LaVere LEATHERS on April 27, 1927 in Ottumwa.
She taught at Bradshaw and Center #5 schools in Jefferson County until her retirement. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
Survivors included two sons, Bill LEATHERS and his wife Donna of Fairfield, and Glenn LEATHERS,Jr. and his wife Sandy of Cairo, Mo.; one daughter, Betty KELLER and her husband Bob of Fairfield; 11 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Patricia FRIEBERG; her parents; three brothers, Rex, Ross, and Ralph KEELER, one sister, Rena BUCKLES; and two infant grandsons.
