Wed. Feb. 28, 1973Elbert LITTLE, Former School Custodian, Dies
Elbert A. LITTLE, retired maintenance employee of the Fairfield Commmunity Schools for 40 years, died at 9:50 p.m. Tuesday at the Ottumwa Hospital following surgery. He had been seriously ill the past week.
Last rites will be Friday at 2 p.m. at the Weston Behner Funeral Home with the Rev. Jim Stumbo officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
Elbert A. LITTLE was born Oct. 20, 1902, at Mount Pleasant. He was the son of Fred and Marie MILLER LITTLE. The family moved to Fairfield when he was quite young and he spent most of his life in this community.
He was a former member of the Iowa National Guard Band, a member of the First Baptist Church and Masonic Lodge. During the many years he served as custodian in the Fairfield schools he touched the lives of many youngsters in the community.
He was married Feb. 3, 1924, to Pansy M. HOOPER, who survives. He is also survived by one daughter, Mrs. Marilyn WARE, Newton; and a son, Roger O. LITTLE, Denver, Colo.
Other survivors include four grandchildren, two brothers and two sisters, all of Fairfield: Horace and Glen LITTLE, Mrs. Earl BUSH and Mrs. Floyd NEDDERMAN.
LITTLE was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters.
