Tuesday, March 31, 1914SAMUEL COCKLEY DIED IN 90TH YEAR
Samuel COCKLEY, an old resident of this city passed away at 1:15 o'clock this morning at the home of his daughter Mrs. W. W. LEWIS (sic. Stella; wife of William W. LEWIS), north of town. Mr. COCKLEY had been in ill health for several months.
Mr. COCKLEY was born near Carlisle, Pa., Nov. 26, 1824. He was married in Richland county, Ohio, Nov. 8, 1853, to Miss Catherine COOK (sic. a/k/a Catharine on her headstone inscriptions). Three children were born to this union, two of whom, a boy and a girl, died in childhood (sic. Ella F. and Eugene A.; both buried in Farmington, Van Buren County, Iowa). Soon after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. COCKLEY came to Iowa, locating in Farmington where they lived for several years, later removing to this city.
Mr. COCKLEY was engaged in active business here until about ten years ago. For several years he conducted a fruit farm in Colorado.
Since the death of his wife, in August, 1900, Mr. COCKLEY has made his home with his daughter Mrs. LEWIS.
The funeral services will be held at two o'clock Thursday afternoon at the LEWIS home north of the city. They will be in charge of Rev. A. F. Newell and the I. O. O. F. Lodge No. 4. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.

Samuel COCKLEY, an old and respected resident of Fairfield, passed away Tuesday after an illness of some three months.
Samuel COCKLEY was born in Pennsylvania, Nov. 26, 1824, being at the time of his death eighty-nine years, four months and four days old.
In the fall of the year 1853 he was united in marriage with Miss Catherine COOK in Richland county, Ohio. Shortly after his marriage he moved to a farm near Farmington, Iowa, making his home there until 1866, at that time moving to Fairfield where he has made his home since.
Mr. COCKLEY was the father of three children, two of them dying in infancy. Mrs. COCKLEY passed away in this city August 20, 1900.
Mrs. W. W. LEWIS, at whose home Mr. COCKLEY died is the only member of the family surviving Mr. COCKLEY.
Funeral services were held at the Congregational church Thursday afternoon, conducted by Rev. A. F. Newell and the I. O. O. F. Interment was made in Evergreen cemetery.
