Brought to Old Home for Burial

Edward M. GAGE died in Chicago at an early hour Monday morning, after a protracted illness from bright's disease. The body was brought to this city, his old home, for burial. Funeral services were held yesterday afternoon at 3 o'clock at the home of his parents on West Broadway. Rev. H.O. Spelman conducted the religious services, Gethsemane Commandery, Knights Templar, acted as escort and conducted the final ceremonies and the body was borne to the grave by boyhood friends.

Mr. GAGE was the second son of Mr. and Mrs. C.W. GAGE, the father being one of the first residents of Farifield. He was born in this city September 24, 1859, received his education and grew to namhood here. In 1880 he engaged in the dry goods business with J. C. THORNE, under the firm name of THORNE & GAGE, and retired three years later. He afterwards was in the lumber trade at Newton, Omaha,Neb., and in Chicago, where he had been for fifteen years past. He was an excellent and successful business man and had very flattering business and social connection in Chicago. He was a man of pleasing address, of genial disposition. There are many friends in his old home who will sorrow at his death and sympathize with the stricken family.
