Obituary

H.H. MOYER

Henry Harper MOYER was born at Loganton, Clinton county, Pennsylvania, April 5, 1852. He was the son of Dr. Johnathon MOYER and Elizabeth PURTMAN. He was one of eleven children, two of whom survive him and live in the east. He grew to manhood in Pennsylvania and at the age of about 25 came west to Stephenson county, Illinois.

On August 3rd, 1879 he was united in marriage to Ellen A. COCHER (sic. KOCHER) at Davis, Illinois. To this union were born five children, four of whom with the widow survive - Mrs. E. J. BLACKWOOD, Mrs. P.E. Black, Mrs. Florence HULL, all of Cedar Rapids, Ia., and H.H. MOYER, Jr., of Kemmerer, Wyo, Mrs. Mabel J. BROWN died March 22nd, 1914.

Deceased was employed as a traveling salesman for the Louden Machinery Company for almost 30 years. He was with this concern when it occupied a relatively small frame building.

Mr. MOYER was raised in the Lutheran church and while not a member of the church he had always been a regular attendant at church services even up until he had gotten so weak that it became impossible to get to the church.

He much enjoyed singing especially the old hymns of the church.
