McINTIRE, Jerry D. -- Jerry D. McINTIRE, 72, of Northwood, died Wednesday, June 17, 2009, at Lutheran Retirement Home in Northwood.
A service will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at First Lutheran Church in Northwood, with the Rev. Daniel Hart officiating. Burial will be in Sunset Rest Cemetery in Northwood.
Visitation will be from noon to 1:30 p.m. at the church.
Schroeder & Sites Funeral Home in Northwood is in charge of arrangements.
Mr. McINTIRE was born Dec. 18, 1936, in Fairfield, the son of Wayne and Madge HARPER McINTIRE. He married Anne WINSLOW July 19, 1959, in Fairfield.
Mr. McINTIRE graduated from Parsons college in 1958 and received his master's degree from Colorado State in 1965. He taught in New London. After moving to Belle Plaine, he continued to teach and also served as mayor. He became superintendent in Dows and later moved to Northwood, where after 10 years he retired.
He served on various boards and committees.
Mr. McINTIRE enjoyed bowling. He was a St. Louis Cardinals and Iowa Hawkeye fan. He was in a barbershop quartet and the church choir.
Survivors include three brothers, Jack McINTIRE of Greensboro, N.C., Bruce McINTIRE of Davenport and Alan McINTIRE of Fairfield; two sisters, Marcia CALDWELL of Broadhead, Wis., and Judy RANDOLPH of Fairfax, Va.; and special friend, Charlene MANWARGIE.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; and three sisters, Shirley, Sandra and Patricia.
