REYNOLDS, Darlene Marie GOEHRING -- Darlene Marie GOEHRING REYNOLDS, age 84, of Nashville, TN passed away on March 3, 2009.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Richard Samuel REYNOLDS of Nashville on Feb. 15, 2009; parents Andrew Louis GOEHRING and Hazel HILL GOEHRING of Libertyville; sister Ferne MINEART of Fairfield; and brothers Keith GOEHRING of Libertyville and Karl GOEHRING of Batavia.

She is survived by children: Susan REYNOLDS of Birmingham, AL; Chris REYNOLDS (Sue) of Monks Risborough, England; Hazel EDDINS (Owen) of Birmingham, AL; and Andy REYNOLDS (Carla) of Lenexa, KS. Grandchildren: Josh and Charlotte REYNOLDS; Marie, Sam and John EDDINS; and Kayla DODSON. Sister: Mable BERG of Waverly, IA. Brothers: Carrol GOEHRING and Raymond GOEHRING of Fairfield, and Glen GOEHRING of Marion, IA. And several nieces and nephews.

Darlene was born July 3, 1924, in Jefferson County. She was baptized in Mount Zion and graduated from Libertyville High School.

Darlene studied religion at the Evanston Collegiate Institute in Chicago and received a B.S. in Elementary Education from Peabody College in Nashville, TN. She taught for two years in Jefferson County, IA rural one-room schools. In 1950, she was commissioned as a Deaconess by the Methodist Board of Missions and served for two years at Robinson School in Puerto Rico and two years at Sue Bennett College in London, KY. Darlene taught kindergarten at Brentwood Methodist Church in Brentwood, TN and went on to teach for 15 years with the Metro Public Schools in Nashville, TN. She was a devoted wife and mother and a long-time member of Crievewood United Methodist Church in Nashville, TN.

A memorial service will be on Thursday, March 12 at 2:00 p.m. at Crievewood United Methodist Church in Nashville, with visitation to follow. In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be made to the Crievewood United Methodist Church or the McKendree Village Foundation Golden Cross Fund in Heritage, TN.
