Richard M. SMITH, 86, pioneer Packwood settler and farmer, died today at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Harry HORNER in Canton, Mo. Born 1½ mi. n.e. of Packwood and lived entire life in that vicinity. Survived by two daughters, Mrs. HORNER of Canton, Mo., and Mrs. Osa WOOD of Stacy, Mont., three sons, Sam of Olive,Mont.; Charles of Broadus, Mont., and Frank of Olive, Mont.; one brother, Giles L. SMITH of Farson, and many grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. A daughter, Mrs. Nellie MYERS, died in 1935. Interment at Packwood.

Richard M. SMITH was born on a farm 1¼ miles n.e. of Packwood May 28, 1852; married Lydia CHURCH; five children. One daughter, Mrs. Nellie MYERS, preceded him in death. One daughter, Mrs. Ora WOOD of Stacey, Mont., and three sons, Sam and Frank of Olive, Mont., and Charlie of Broadus, Mont. Mrs. SMITH died in 1885. Later he married Nettie SHIREY; one daughter, Mrs. Chloe HORNER of Canton, Mo.; also survived by one brother, Giles L. SMITH of Farson, 26 grandchildren and 15 greatgrandchildren. Three sisters and one brother preceded him in death... Burial at Packwood.
