Page 5, Column 3Obit. George ROMACK, born 4½ miles west of Packwood Sept. 22, 1853. When he was five years of age moved with his family to the home farm two miles west of Packwood, where he lived for 80 years until death on March 30, 1939, age 85-6-7. His mother died when he was three years old and his father, Thomas ROMACK, attended the farm and cared for the four boys ranging in age from 17 days to 6 years. His father died in 1893 and George with two of his brothers, Elijah and Ross (?), continued to occupy the home farm until each passed away. Mr. ROMACK remained a single man and his nearest relatives are first cousins, James L. ROMACK, R. A. ROMACK, George T. ROMACK, Jessie ROMACK, and Lucinda SHUCK all of Indiana; E.A. ROMACK reisiding here, H. R. COLLINS, Wauneta, Neb., James KIEWS and Perry SMITH residing in Iowa, and four cousins in South Dakota, names not known. Services at Packwood Methodist Church. Burial took place in lot beside his three brothers. His parents were buried at a much earlier date in Abingdon Cemetery.

Monday, October 2 , 1939GEORGE ROMACK PROMINENT IN PACKWOOD AREA
Wealthy land-owner, last of his family, passed away early this yearGeorge ROMACK, last of his immediate family, was a prominent Jefferson comity farmer and stock raiser. He passed away Thursday, March 30, 1939 at his home two miles west of Packwood.
Mr. ROMACK had been ill for about a month. Previous to the forepart of the year he had always been very robust and active in spite of his advanced age of 85 years.
Mr. ROMACK was a thrifty farmer and stock raiser and owned almost 2,000 acres of fine land in Polk Township. He never married.
He was born four miles south-west of Packwood and when a boy his parents moved to the present farm which Mr. ROMACK occupied for 76 years(.) His three brothers, all preceding him in death, also are buried in the Packwood cemetery.
His closest surviving relative is E. A. ROMACK, a cousin who lives near Packwood. There also are cousins in Indiana and Nebraska.
During the last several years J. R. Davis has lived with him and aided him in carrying out plans of operating his farm. Formerly the H. H. Mills family acted in that capacity.
Mr. ROMACK was born Sept. 22, 1853. He celebrated his 85th birthday last September, 1938 by having a large group of friends present as guests at his home. The accompanying picture shows Mr. ROMACK holding his birthday cake.
He had always taken good care of his land ownings of 1,860 acres and was highly successful in all of his undertakings.
