SHIPLEY, Rena Pauline WHITCANACK -- Rena Pauline WHITCANACK SHIPLEY, 89, of Keosauqua, died at 3:26 a.m. Sunday, April 6, 2008, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.

A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Bill Shewmaker officiating. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery west of Keosauqua.

Open visitation will be from 2-5 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where family will be present from 1-2 p.m. Wednesday.

Memorials to Lebanon Cemetery may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at PO Box 521, Kearney, MO 64060.

Mrs. SHIPLEY was born Nov. 9, 1918, near Keosauqua, the daughter of Benjamin H. and Dott ROUSH WHITCANACK. She married Howard SHIPLEY Jan. 13, 1940, in Fairfield. He died May 13, 1991.

Mrs. SHIPLEY and her husband farmed in the Lebanon and Keosauqua area and moved into Keosauqua in 1989. Mrs. SHIPLEY worked at Van Buren County Hospital for 17 years.

She enjoyed making quilts for her grandchildren and canning food from her garden.

Mrs. SHIPLEY was a member of Keosauqua Christian Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Ruth Ann WOOD and husband Bill of Kearney, Mo., and Maxine LEEDY and husband Bob of East Moline, Ill.; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; three sisters, Mabel WELLS and Betty HENDRICKS, both of Keosauqua, and Frances DODDS of Stockport; and one brother, Earl WHITCANACK of Keosauqua.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; one daughter, Donna Louise SHIPLEY; one great-grandson at birth; and three brothers, Harold, Karl and Rex WHITCANACK.
