SHIPLEY, Samuel Edward "Ed" -- Samuel Edward "Ed" SHIPLEY of Keosauqua died at 6:15 a.m. today, Thursday, March 20, 2008, at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua.

Arrangements are pending at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

SHIPLEY, Samuel Edward "Ed" -- Samuel Edward "Ed" SHIPLEY, 82, of Keosauqua, died at 6:15 a.m. Thursday, March 20, 2008, at Van Buren Good Samaritan Center in Keosauqua.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. ellis andrews (sic - lower case) officiating. The body has been cremated.

Open visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, where the family will be present from 10-11 a.m.

Memorials to Van Buren Good Samaritan Center may be left at the funeral home or mailed to the family at 839 Country Lane Road, Keosauqua 52565.

Mr. SHIPLEY was born Feb. 7, 1926, in Lebanon, the son of Samuel and Grace NICHOLS SHIPLEY. He married Hazel ARNOLD March 4, 1950, in Bloomfield.

Mr. SHIPLEY lived in the Lebanon and Keosauqua area. He worked at Barker Wire Co. and operated a service station in Keosauqua. He also worked at Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown and retired from serving as custodian at the Van Buren County Courthouse in Keosauqua. He had resided at the Good Samaritan Center for the past five years.

He had served in the United States Navy during World War II.

Survivors include his wife; four sons, Larry SHIPLEY and wife Betty of Keosauqua, Richard "Butch" SHIPLEY and wife Julie of Keosauqua, Terry SHIPLEY and wife Lydia of College Station, Texas, and Clark SHIPLEY and wife Sue of Cazenovia, N.Y.; one daughter, Grace BUTTERFIELD and husband Ray of Dallas, Texas; eight grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and one sister, Martha ANDERSON of Moline, Ill.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Harold and Howard SHIPLEY; and two sisters, Bessie KINGSBURY and Cleo DAVISSON.
