DOWNARD, Mary Lou - Mary Lou DOWNARD, 77, of Ankeny, died Friday, Jan. 4, 2008, at Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines from complications of Endocarditis.

A graveside service will be at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Miller Chapel Cemetery.

A visitation, with family present, will be from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua.

Memorials may be made to Taylor House Hospice in Des Moines.

Mrs. DOWNARD was born Feb. 13, 1930, in Bloomington, Ill., the daughter of Charles and Susie SMITH. She married Robert L. DOWNARD, a Keosauqua native, July 27, 1947, in Urbana, Ill.

Mrs. DOWNARD and her husband raised their family in Peoria, Ill. They moved to Ankeny in November 2004.

Mrs. DOWNARD enjoyed spending time with friends, gardening and bowling.

Survivors include her husband; four children, Patricia STRAH and husband Ron of Ankeny, Steven DOWNARD and wife Jennifer of Peoria, Ill., David DOWNARD and wife Catherine of Auburndale, Fla., and Julie MANGELS and husband Eric of Ankeny, 10 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Wilma CRAWFORD of Avon, Ind.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, John SMITH; and one sister, Kathleen KELLER.
