LINT, Lewis Eugene -- Lewis Eugene LINT, 81, of Cape Coral, Fla., died Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2007.

A funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hope United Methodist Church in Cape Coral, with the Rev. Lee Carnahan officiating. Burial will follow at Coral Ridge Cemetery with military honors.

Viewing will be from 10:30-11 a.m. Saturday at the church.

Flowers are appreciated or memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Central Iowa, 204 S. Jefferson St., Mount Pleasant 52641.

Arrangements are in the care of Metz Chapel of Harvey-Engelhardt-Metz Funeral Homes and Crematory in Cape Coral.

Mr. LINT was born in 1926 in Van Meter, the son of Lewis and Ledena LINT.

Mr. LINT served during World War II with the U.S. Navy.

After the war, he received his bachelor's degree from Iowa Wesleyan College and later his doctorate in ministerial psychiatry from Duke University. He ministered to Iowa churches in Earham, Winterset, Ankeny and Libertyville.

Mr. LINT ran for governor of Iowa in 1962. He later served as chaplain at Pitt Memorial Hospital in Greenville, N.C., where he created a Hospital Chaplain Certification Program. He moved to Cape Coral in 1995.

Mr. LINT volunteered at the Veterans Affairs clinic in Ft. Myers. He was a member of Hope United Methodist Church in Cape Coral. He enjoyed photography, woodworking and politics. He was an avid ham radio operator.

Survivors include his wife, Elizabeth of Cape Coral; three daughters, Sheri Blough NEFF and husband David of Fairfield, Cynthia MOODY of Phoenix and Victoria LINT of Cape Coral; one son, David LINT and wife Mary of Deer Lodge, Mont.; one step-daughter, Eileen JONES of Wilson, N.C.; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Lewis E. LINT II.
