Martha Louise Messer, 80, of Parkview Care Center in Fairfield died of complications due to a serious illness March 3, 2006, at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.

A graveside service is set for 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Glendale Cemetery in Des Moines, with the Rev. David Doerr officiating. The body has been cremated.

Mrs. Messer was born March 22, 1925, in Pleasant Plain.

Mrs. Messer lived in Washington, Iowa, until moving to Des Moines 43 years ago. After the death of her husband Melvin, she moved to Keosauqua in 2000 and just recently to Parkview Care Center. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Messer enjoyed spending time with her children and traveling.

Survivors include one son, Richard Messer of Polk City; two daughters, Joanne Warren of Des Moines and Becky Whitaker of Keosauqua; seven grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
