DIED. BILLINGSLEY - Jan. 12, 1872, in Round Prairie township, Jefferson County, Iowa, of organic disease of the liver, Mrs. Prudence Billingsley, aged 51 years and 16 days. The deceased was born in Harrison County, Ohio. Was married to her now bereaved husband Dec. 29th, 1841, and with him emigrated to the Territory of Iowa the following year, and located near Glasgow, Jefferson County, where she lived an honored and useful member of society until death. Her widowed mother, Mrs. Prudence Strong, and family, consisting of five sons and six daughters, emigrated at the same time to this county, and were favorably known by the older settlers. Out of the entire family but two now remain - Mrs. Lee and Finley Strong, the former residing near Chariton, Lucas County, the latter near Mt. Pleasant, Henry County, Iowa - the mother and nine children having preceded them a few short years to the Spirit Land. For five long, weary months the home of this bereaved family has been one continued scene of suffering and pain - every member, including the deceased, having had typhoid fever - the oldest daughter, "Jennie", dying from its effects just three months previous to the death of the mother ...... this sad bereavement falls heavily upon her afflicted husband, who in a short time has lost by death an aged father, a brother and daughter.
