MRS. COCHRAN, 73, TAKEN IN DEATH.
Mrs. Maudie Cochran, 73, 201 E. Adams, died Tuesday afternoon at the Jefferson County Hospital where she had been a patient for one day. She had been in failing health for the past year. Services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Weston Behner Funeral Home in charge of the Rev. Alvin Nelson. Burial will be in Glasgow cemetery.
Mrs. Cochran spent most of her life in Jefferson County. She was born July 10, 1890 in Van Buren County, the daughter of John and Sarah Coltrane Shelman. She was married to Harry S. Cochran June 24, 1916. He preceded her in death Jan. 26, 1936. Mrs. Cochran was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Order of Eastern Star and the Rebekah Lodge.
She is survived by the following children; Mrs. Esther Harlan, Glen Cochran, Mrs. Dorothy Switzer and Mrs. Barbara Garmoe, all of Burlington; Bernard Cochran, Lansing, Mich.; Raymond Cochran, Floral Park, N.Y.; Marshall Cochran, Laramie, Wyo.; and Leslie Cochran, Savage, Minn. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters: Otto Shelman, Hillsboro; J. Louie Shelman, Lockridge; Mrs. Alta Heckinberg, Fairfield; Mrs. Elsie Crane, Mt. Pleasant, and Mrs. Lela Crane, Lockridge. One son and two brothers are deceased.
