Joanne 'Esther' WINTER

Joanne "Esther" WINTER, 69, of Fairfield, died today, Monday, June 4, 2007, at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.

Arrangements are pending at Behner Funeral Home and Crematory in Fairfield.

Esther 'Joanne' WINTER

Esther "Joanne" WINTER, 69, of Fairfield, died Monday, June 4, 2007, at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.

A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at First Baptist Church in Fairfield, with the Rev. Jim Wotherspoon and the Rev. Bill Rathbun officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Lawn Cemetery in Fairfield.

Family visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at Behner Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church or the Forest Lake Camp building fund. Cards and memorials may be sent to 804 W. Grimes Ave., Fairfield 52556.

Ms. WINTER was born Feb. 6, 1938, in Fairfield, the daughter of John and Esther KIRKPATRICK WINTER.

Ms. WINTER lived most of her life in the Fairfield community, graduating from Fairfield High School in 1956. She began teaching in the Keota School District in 1964 and retired in 2000.

Ms. WINTER was a member of First Baptist Church in Fairfield, Maxine Bates Circle, Church Women United, Jefferson County Hospital Auxiliary and the Resident Advocacy Council for the Living Care Center.

Her interests included reading and crossword puzzles, teaching Sunday school and working in the hospital gift shop.

Survivors include one nephew, Tiff WIDMER of Fairfield; one niece, Tara WIDMER, stationed with the U.S. Military in Korea; and one sister, Linda NIELSEN of Booneville.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
