HERRICK, John Nicholas -- John Nicholas HERRICK, 60, of Colorado Springs, Colo., formerly of Fairfield, died Saturday, June 2, 2007.

A memorial service was held Tuesday at Colorado House in Colorado Springs. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Cecilia's Catholic Church in Ames. Inurnment will be in Ames Municipal Cemetery.

Memorials may be sent to the Colorado House at 21 S. Wahsatch Road, Colorado Springs, CO 80903.

Stevens Memorial Chapel in Ames is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. HERRICK was born Dec. 12, 1946, in Ames, the son of John and Gwen HERRICK.

Mr. HERRICK attended St. Cecilia's Catholic School and graduated from Ames High School in 1965, Iowa State University in 1970 and the University of Kansas law school in 1974. Prior to moving to Colorado, he lived in California and Fairfield. In his earlier years, he worked in the financial service industry and most recently was employed by United Way in Colorado Springs.

Mr. HERRICK was a member of ROTC at ISU and was honorably discharged from active duty from Fort Ord, Calif., in 1976. He also was a member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity at ISU.

Survivors include 13 siblings, Joyce RODENBORN, Jody TRAIL, Gregg KREAMER, Dirk KREAMER, Jim, Jeff, Scott KREAMER, Jeni SZATKOWSKI, Jerry, Julie BUHROW, Ann FERGUSON, Jackie DUMMER and Beth PIPITONE.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his stepmother, Joan; and one sister, Mary FRANCIS.
