KASKA, Beatrice M. -- Beatrice M. KASKA, 99, of Fairfield, died at 6:10 a.m. today, Thursday, March 15, 2007, at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.

Arrangements are pending at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

KASKA, Beatrice M. -- Beatrice M. KASKA, 99, of Fairfield, died Thursday, March 15, 2007, at Jefferson County Hospital in Fairfield.

A funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church in Fairfield, with the Rev. E. William Kaska officiating. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery.

A Rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Sunday, followed by a Wake service and family visitation from 6:30-8 p.m. at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Memorials may be made to St. Mary Catholic Church building fund or Mass stipends.

Mrs. KASKA was born Feb. 3, 1908, near Keota, the daughter of Andrew and Katherine LAHR HENRY. She married Eugene Joseph KASKA June 21, 1933, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in East Pleasant Plain. He died July 25, 1989.

Mrs. KASKA graduated from Pleasant Plain High School in 1927 and attended Parsons College. She taught at rural schools in Keokuk and Jefferson counties for six years. She was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County and Fairfield. She and her husband farmed east of Fairfield until moving to Fairfield in the late 1960s.

Mrs. KASKA was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Altar and Rosary Society, a charter member of Jefferson County Hospital Auxiliary and a charter member of Keep Young Club. She served on the Agency on Aging Board and worked at the Bargain Box. She also was a member of the Jefferson County Historical Society, Genealogical Society and Jefferson County Retired Teachers Association. She served on the board of the Lord's Cupboard.

Survivors include her four children, James KASKA and wife Karen of Seattle, Marie ROMITTI of Des Moines, Shirley ROSSA and husband Glynn of Madison, Wis., and E. William KASKA of Iowa City; 10 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Katherine EAGLE of Washington, Iowa.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Clarence and George HENRY and one son-in-law, Al ROMITTI.
