"Fairfield Ledger Weekly", June 24, 1869

Horrible Death.--- Miss Josephene ANDERSON, a servant in the family of J. M. TODD, at Burlington, disappeared on the 9th of June, and on the 19th her remains were discovered in the cistern. The lid of the cistern was in such a position that the coroner’s jury could not tell whether the drowning was intentional or accidental. Miss ANDERSON was about 20 years old, and the only child of parents who live in the Swede settlement in Jefferson county. We glean from the "Hawk-Eye."
