Lyle L. SHELANGOSKI, 83, of Wayland, died Friday morning, May 26, 2006, at Henry County Hospital in Mount Pleasant.

A service was held this morning at Beatty Funeral Home in Wayland, with the Rev. Jeffrey McPheron officiating. Burial with military honors was in Greenmound Cemetery west of Trenton.

Memorials may be made to Trenton United Methodist Church.

Mr. SHELANGOSKI was born July 21, 1922, in Brighton, the son of Stephen and Velma Gladys Hinkle SHELANGOSKI. He married Marjorie E. ROTH Dec. 6, 1947, in Fairfield. She died Feb. 12, 2002.

Mr. SHELANGOSKI served in the 99th Field Artillery during World War II. He retired from the Iowa Army Ammunition Plant in Middletown. He lived in the Trenton area for most of his life and moved to Wayland following the death of his wife.

Mr. SHELANGOSKI was a 50-year member of the American Legion.

He enjoyed play cards with his friends in Wayland.

Survivors include one sister, Lucille GARRELLS of New London.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; one infant son; and one brother, Harold.
