Vernon H. PARRISH, 87, 807 W. Taylor Ave., died at 1:40 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2006, at Nelson Nursing Home in Fairfield.

No memorial service is scheduled. A private family interment of cremains will be at a later time.

Family visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Friday at Raymond Funeral Home in Fairfield.

Memorials may be made to the Jefferson County Conservation Board or the Nelson Nursing Home activity fund.

Mr. PARRISH was born Jan. 12, 1919, in Fairfield, the son of Ralph and Cora Isabel Summers PARRISH. He married Lois Irene FORSTER Feb. 5, 1950, at First Christian Church in Fairfield. She died July 1, 1997.

Mr. PARRISH lived his entire life in the Fairfield community. He graduated from Fairfield High School in 1936. He farmed in the Richwood community near Salina and retired from the position of foreman at American Chain and Cable Company after 27 years.

Mr. PARRISH served as a staff sergeant in the U.S. Air Force during World War II from 1942 until 1946.

He was a member of Bethesda Methodist Church, International Order of Odd Fellows Lodge No. 4 and Fairfield Weakenders Club.

Survivors include two daughters, Bonnie TENLEY-FRELS and husband Dale of Barstow, Ill., and Peggy PARRISH-KUDA of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Martha HOLLANDER.
