DIED.--- on Sept. 10th, 1868, Effie May, daughter of J. W. & Annie LANGFORD, aged 4 years, 2 months and 10 days.

As the sweet flower that scents the morn
But withers in the rising day,
Thus lovely was our Effie’s dawn,
Thus sweetly fled her life away.

She died ere her expanded soul
Had ever burnt with wrong desires,
Had ever spurned at heaven’s control
Or ever quenched its sacred fires.

She died to sin, she died to cares,
But for a moment felt the rod;
Oh! mourner, such the Lord declares,
Such are the children of our God.
