Thelma F. HADLEY, 86, of Packwood, died early today, Friday, Aug. 25, 2006, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.

Arrangements are pending at Gould Funeral Home in Richland.

Thelma F. HADLEY, 86, died at 8:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 25, 2006, at Parkview Care Center in Fairfield.

A funeral was held this morning at Gould Funeral Home in Richland, with the Rev. Stan Van Der Horst officiating. Burial will be in Prairie Center Cemetery in Packwood.

Memorials to Packwood Volunteer First Responders, Linby Baptist Church or the Seneca Area Agency on Aging’s Richland meal site may be left at the funeral home.

Mrs. HADLEY was born April 25, 1920, in Linby, the daughter of Clarence “Jake” and Lucy Francis Clingman BOOK. She married William “Bill” HADLEY April 27, 1940, in Fairfield. He died Nov. 15, 1995.

Mrs. HADLEY lived in the Linby community all her life. She graduated from Packwood High School in 1937 and attended Parsons College in Fairfield before teaching country school for two years. She was a homemaker but also had worked for Farson Lumber and Grain Company for a number of years. She had been a resident of Parkview Care Center for the past two weeks.

Mrs. HADLEY was a member of Linby Baptist Church. She also was a member of Canasta Club and Linby Zepher Club. She regularly attended the Seneca Area Agency on Aging’s Richland meal site.

Survivors include two sons, Carl HADLEY and wife Sue and Wayne HADLEY and wife Kay, both of Packwood; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Ina SASSEEN of Packwood; and one brother, Kay BOOK of Packwood.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Helen Tarrence VROMAN, Audrey HILL and LaVon TUTTLE.

FAIRFIELD — Thelma F. HADLEY, 86, died at 8:30 a.m. Friday August 25, 2006, at the Park View Care Center in Fairfield where she had been a resident the past two weeks.

She was born April 25, 1920 in Linby, IA to Clarence ‘Jake’ and Lucy Francis (CLINGMAN) BOOK. She married William ‘Bill’ HADLEY in Fairfield on April 27, 1940 and he died November 15, 1995.

Mrs. HADLEY lived in the Linby community all her life, graduated from Packwood High School in 1937 and attended Parsons College in Fairfield before teaching country school for two years. She was a homemaker but she also worked for Farson Lumber and Grain Co. for a number of years. Mrs. HADLEY was a member of the Linby Baptist Church, Canasta Club, Linby Zepher Club and regularly attended the Seneca Organization Richland Meal Site.

Mrs. HADLEY is survived by two sons, Carl HADLEY and his wife Sue and Wayne HADLEY and his wife Kay both of Packwood; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one sister, Ina SASSEEN and one brother, Kay BOOK both of Packwood.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three sisters, Helen Tarrence VROMAN, Audrey HILL and LaVon TUTTLE.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday August 28, 2006, at the Gould Funeral Home in Richland with Rev. Stan Van Der Horst officiating. Burial will be in the Prairie Center Cemetery in Packwood.

Visitation at the funeral home will open at 1:00 p.m. Sunday with the family present from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m.

Memorials to the Packwood Volunteer First Responders, Linby Baptist Church or the Seneca Organization, Richland Meal Site may be left at he funeral home.
