Sept. 11, 2006, pg. 10.C. Earl DIXON, 87, of rural Keosauqua, died at 3:59 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 7, 2006, at Van Buren County Hospital in Keosauqua.
A service will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Pedrick Funeral Home in Keosauqua, with the Rev. Paul Rekward officiating. Burial with military rites by Beer-Barker Post will be in Maple Grove Cemetery in Cantril.
Open visitation will begin at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home; a public Masonic service by Keosauqua Lodge will be at 7 p.m., followed by family visitation until 8:30 p.m.
Memorials to Cantril United Methodist Church or Maple Grove Cemetery may be left at the funeral home or mailed to P.O. Box 513, Keosauqua 52565.
Mr. DIXON was born Sept. 23, 1918, in Denmark, Iowa, the son of Clarence and Edith Coen DIXON. He married Ethel M. SCHMEISER June 27, 1941, in Palmyra, Mo. She died Oct. 18, 1991.
Mr. DIXON graduated from high school in Biggsville, Ill., in 1936. He lived in Gladstone and Raritan, Ill., before moving to his farm southwest of Keosauqua in 1955.
Mr. DIXON served in the U. S. Army during World War II.
He attended Cantril United Methodist Church. He was a 50-year member of Keosauqua Lodge No. 10 A.F. and A.M., a past patron of the former Lynds Chapter Order of Eastern Star, a member of Twin City Chapter No. 258 Order of Eastern Star in Douds and a past commander of American Legion Beer-Barker Post No. 113 of Keosauqua. He had served on county agricultural committees.
Survivors include one son, Larry DIXON and wife Pat of Cape May, N.J.; one granddaughter; and two great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents.
