Sept. 11, 2006, pg. 10.Barbara Pauline Carver Barr CUTTS, 70, of Mount Pleasant, died at 2:30 p.m. Friday, September 8, 2006, at Pleasant Manor Care Center in Mount Pleasant.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Weir and Kimzey Funeral Home in Mount Pleasant, with the Rev. Dianne Brokken, officiating. A private family interment will be held at a later time.
Family visitation will be from 9-10 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to New Sweden United Methodist Church or the Great River Hospice.
Mrs. CUTTS was born Nov. 7, 1935, in Mount Pleasant, the daughter of Frank and Bernice Smith CARVER. She married Virgil BARR in 1954 at Greenmound Church of God in rural Trenton. They later divorced. She married Tom CUTTS in the early 1970’s in Mount Pleasant. The couple later divorced.
Mrs. CUTTS graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1954. She worked in production at Staats Custom Awards and Emerson Electric, both in Mount Pleasant. She also assisted in the operation of the Mount Pleasant Municipal Airport. Following her marriage to Tom CUTTS, the couple relocated to Humbolt, where she worked for Winnebago Industries, stringing the electric wiring for the motor homes. They moved to Hamilton, Ill., and she returned to Mount Pleasant following her divorce. She then worked at the Van Vorhies Haus in Mount Pleasant, from where she retired.
Mrs. CUTTS was a member of New Sweden United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed word search puzzles, gardening, woodworking, ceramics and Christmas decorations. She also enjoyed bowling and bowled in a league in Humbolt.
Survivors include three sons, Chris BARR and wife Becky of Mount Pleasant, Lanny BARR of Keosauqua and Mickey BARR and wife Donna of Danville; one stepdaughter, Vanessa WAGNER of Salem three sisters, Beatrice HUMMELL of Mount Pleasant and Bertha THRASHER and Elizabeth KOCH, both of Spokane, Wash.; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Walter BARR; and five brothers, Kenneth, Ronald, Donald, Arnold, and Francis CARVER.
