Thursday evening last, at his home in this city, occurred the death of Mr. Thomas CUMMINGS, a well known citizen, in the eighty-fifth year of his age. Mr. CUMMINGS was a native of Maryland, but at an early age removed with his father's family, to West Virginia. After several years' residence there he removed to Beallsville, Ohio, and resided there nearly half a century, removing later to Washington in the same state. About fifteen years ago he removed to this city and has since made his home here. Mr. CUMMINGS was twice married, and his second wife still survives him. One child was born to him by his first marriage, but it died in infancy. Mr. CUMMINGS was a man who was universally respected and loved. Left childless at an early age his house was made a home for several foster children, among whom was Mayor CUMMINGS, who made his home with his uncle for many years. The funeral occurred in this city Friday afternoon, and the remains were followed to the grave by a large number of friends.
