S. A. ANDERSON DIED IN DAVENPORT FROM INJURIES RECEIVED

A telegram was received in this city this morning by relatives stating that Arthur ANDERSON had died about three o'clock this morning at the Emergency Hospital at Davenport, following injuries when he was struck by a train Saturday afternoon.

The accident occurred between 12 and 1:00 o'clock Saturday as he was returning from his work at the arsenal. He stepped off the work train and was struck by another train which failed to give warning of its approach. The boly (sic - body) was thrown several feet and when taken to the hospital it was found his ribs were all broken on one side, one protruding into his lung, and that he was suffering internal hemorrhages. Death occurred early this morning.

Samuel Arthur ANDERSON was born at Fairfield, Oct. 22d, 1885, and was the son of Mr. and Mrs. A. P. ANDERSON. He had always made his home in this city until a few months ago when he went to Rock Island and was employed at the arsenal. For a number of years he was superintendent of the City Water Works in this city.

Ten years ago on Thanksgiving day he was united in marriage to Miss Maude McCONNELL, also of this city, and to them was born one son Gerald Howard (sic - Gerald Harold). Besides the wife and little son he is survived by his mother Mrs. A. P,. ANDERSON and one sister Mrs. E. MARIE. A sister Martha, has preceeded (sic) him in death.

The arrangements for the funeral have not been made as the body cannot be brought to this city until after the inques (sic) has been held.

ARTHUR ANDERSON DIES FROM INJURIES
RETURNING TO DAVENPORT FROM ARSENAL AND STRUCK BY TRAIN.

Arthur ANDERSON is dead as the result of a railroad accident at Davenport Saturday (note: in Scott Co., IA).

Mr. ANDERSON was returning by rail from the arsenal, where he was employed and upon reaching Davenport, alighted from the train. As he stepped from the platform his foot slipped and he was struck by an oncoming train which, it is said, failed to give warning of its approaching.

The victim of the accident was thrown several feet and sustained injuries which resulted in his death Monday morning at Mercy hospital, Davenport.

Samuel Arthur ANDERSON was born in Fairfield October 22, 1885, and grew to manhood here. He moved to Davenport a few months ago and with the exception of this short while has spent his entire life here.

Ten years ago he was united in marriage to Miss Maude McCONNELL of this city, who, with a son, Gerald Howard, survive. He leaves also his mother, Mrs. A. P. ANDERSON, and one sister, of this city.

The remains arrived in Fairfield Wednesday and funeral services were hell (sic) Thursday afternoon, from the home of J. E. McConnell, on West Washington street in charge of Rev. C. L. Tennant.

Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery where the K. of P. lodge had charge of the last rites.
