Claus John LINDQUIST, one of the best known Swedish settlers of Jefferson County, died about 4 o'clock Monday at his home two miles southeast of Salina.....
Born in Sweden Oct. 16, 1838, and was there married to Mary SIGNAL. In 1870 they came to America and settled at Salina. The following year he moved to the farm on which he died. By trade he was a machinist and blacksmith and operated a shop.
His wife and all of his nine children survive him. They are: Albert of Moline, Ill.; J.P. of Rock Island, Ill.; E.A.; Oscar; Arthur; Anna; Edward and Ruth. All except the first two reside at the Salina home. Swedish Lutheran Church at Four Corners.... His six sons will act as pall bearers.

HISTORY FOR FEBRUARY, by H. Heaton..... The mortuary list is a long and sad one... On the 17th in Lockridge township, C. J. LINDQUIST, aged 75. Mr. LINDQUIST was born in Sweden and was a blacksmith, owning the shop that a few years ago was thought worthy to be pictured as a badge for Old Settler's Day.
