Thomas TITUS, formerly a citizen of this county, died at Vinton Jan. 15, from paralysis which attacked him a week earlier. He was near 80 years old. He was related to Mr. D. L. KAUFFMAN of this city.

The news comes of the death of Thomas W. TITUS at his home in Vinton, Iowa, January 10, 1889, of paralysis. Mr. TITUS was born in Brown County, Ohio, in 1810; removed to Johnson County, Indiana, and was married to Mary YOUNG in 1832. From there he went to Illinois in 1839 and then to Fairfield in 1843. He has resided in Vinton since 1883.

He leaves a wife and seven children -- five boys and two girls. Mr. TITUS was a good and quiet citizen, a member of the Presbyterian Church and esteemed by those who knew him. Many of our old citizens had a full recognition of his worth.
