"Fairfield Ledger", May 6, 1903, Pg. 8, Col. 6

ANOTHER OF THE STEVER BROTHERS GONE. John Wesley STEVER died in this city Wednesday morning at 8 o'clock from pneumonia, the third member of that family to whom death has come within six weeks. Geroge, and elder brother, died March 19th; David H., a younger brother, March 26th, both in this city. Mr. STEVER was born in Huntingdon County, Penn., and was in the sixty-sixth year of his age. He came to this county with his father, the late Adam STEVER, in the spring of 1844, and from that time until about a year ago resided on the old homestead just west of town. He was a man of excellent morals, industrious, energetic and of genial temperament. His life, although an active one, was largely devoted to his home interests. The body was interred in this city Thursday. Rev. W. J. Funkey conducted the funeral services in the Lutheran Church. The first funeral service ever held in this building was that of Mr. STEVER's father, who was largely instrumental in erecting the structure, in 1858.
