David LONG died at his residence in Fairfield, Iowa, on Wednesday, August 19th, 1885, aged 57 years 9 months and 23 days. The deceased was the fourth son of John and Magdalene LONG, and was born and reared in Franklin County, Pennsylvania. In 184(3?) he removed with his father's family to Iowa and settled in Richwoods in Jefferson County. Here, in 1853, he was married to Miss Sarah HENDERSON, who died ten years later.
In 1865 he was married to Mrs. Ellen CORBITT, who still survives. Mr. LONG was by trade a carpenter, but was engaged also in saw milling and in farming.... As a husband and father he was tender and devoted; as a neighbor thoughtful and obliging; as a citizen intelligent and patriotic.... M.E. Church... He rests in peace.
