"Fairfield Ledger", Aug. 15, 1900, Pg. 3, Col. 3

RUN DOWN BY A TRAIN. John MOUNT, for many years a resident of Fairfield, was run down and killed by a Wabash passenger train at Albia Friday morning about 9 o'clock.... Mr. MOUNT was 87 years old and quite deaf... All the older residents of Fairfield will remember John MOUNT, for this city was his home for many years. He removed to Albia in the early '70s, and that was his home until his family was broken up by the marriage of his children and the death of his wife. Member of the M.E. Church...

Five children survive him -- Mrs. George DIXON of Missoula, Mon.; Mrs. Mel. SHERIDAN of Chariton; Mrs. W. K. HARDENBROOK of Albia, Mrs. Wm. GLENNY of Chariton, and W. R. MOUNT of Chicago. The remains were interred at Albia Saturday.
