Was well known in city; funeral services to be Tuesday
Bruce S. RATCLIFF, 306 West Burlington street, well-known resident of this city, passed away Sunday at 1:30 a.m. at the Masonic Sanatorium in Bettendorf, Iowa. He was born July 4, 1859 and was 79 years of age at his death.
On Jan. 6, 1938 he fell and fractured his hip and was taken to the Jefferson county hospital where he remained until April 16, 1938 at which time he was removed to Bettendorf.
Mr. RATCLIFF is survived by his wife; two stepchildren, Glenn L. PEEBLER of Fairfield and Mrs. Robert G. DOTY of Cumberland, Md., and a sister, Mrs. Virgie GILLETTE of Corning, Calif.
Funeral services will be held at the Murray Funeral Home Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 p.m. in charge of the Rev. William Yingling. Interment will be in Fairfield City cemetery.
All Masons are being asked to meet at the hall at 2 p.m. so they may attend the services in a body. There will be Masonic services for Mr. RATCLIFF at the grave.
Friends of Mr. RATCLIFF may call at the Murray Funeral Home.

Note: Bruce was married twice: First to Matilda CRAIL who died in 1918, and second to Margaret DAVIS PEEBLER. Both wives are buried in Evergreen Cemetery in Fairfield (Matilda in Lot Old.P.024, Margaret in 4th.142), while Bruce is in neighboring Old Fairfield City Cemetery in Lot 199 W½.
