OBITUARY. Simon P. SNYDER was born in Holmes County, Ohio, Dec. 7, 1839, and died Apr. 23, 1905, aged 65 years 4 months and 16 days. He was married to Hannah A. MILHOUS in Benton, Ohio, Feb. 25, 1866. Seven children, five of whom survive; two died in infancy.

During the war of 1861-1865 Mr. SNYDER was one of the brave union soldiers, enlisting in 1861 in Co. __, 65th Ohio Infantry, and serving his full time. He re-enlisted Jan. 1, 1864, and served till the close of the war. Coming to Iowa later he lived for many years at Birmingham, and was respected by all as an upright citizen. He had only recently come to Fairfield. His wife and family have the sympathy of the community in their loss. The funeral was held under the auspices of the G.A.R., Rev. Alexander Corkey officiating as minister, on Sunday afternoon, and the old soldiers marched in a body to the cemetery.
