DEATH OF MRS. RANDLE.

Hannah J. BYRKIT, wife of Albert N. RANDLE, died in this city Saturday evening, after a long and painful illness. Deceased was the only daughter of Jesse BYRKIT, now of Red Oak, and of a family of eight children. She was born in Marion county, Indiana, August 22d, 1831, and came to Fairfield with her parents when about fifteen years of age. She was married May 24th (sic - 25th), 1854, and was the mother of four children, all of whom survive her. A daughter, Isabelle B., resides here; Geo. W. at Centerville; W.A. at South Ottumwa; and Jesse B. at Washington. The surviving members of her father's family are: A. R. BYRKIT of this city; Rev. Geo. W. BYRKIT of Delta; F. M. BYRKIT of Red Oak; C. S. BYRKIT of Des Moines; and M. L. BYRKIT of Fairfield, Nebr.. Mrs. RANDLE united with the Methodist Episcopal church in 1851, and was a member of that denomination until her death. She was a faithful Christian woman, a devoted and dutiful daughter, wife and mother. She knew what sorrowing and suffering were and was over ready with sympathy and comfort for those needing aid. For several years past she has had the continual care of an invalid daughter, and has so schooled herself during this period that she became skilled and disciplined, and when her own illness came she was far richer in the graces of patience, resignation and Christian fortitude than she had supposed herself to be. She died in peace and rests from her labors. The family will have the sympathy of the community in its bereavement. The remains were interred in this city Monday afternoon, Rev. J. A. Boatman conducting the funeral services.

The family desires to express its deep sense of gratitude to all the friends and neighbors who rendered assistance and extended sympathy in the sickness and bereavement through which it has passed.
