JOHN T. HOOPES DROPPED DEAD

John T. HOOPES, one of the well known residents of Jefferson county, dropped dead at his home here about one o'clock this afternoon, adding another to the series of recent sudden deaths in Fairfield. Mr. HOOPES had been working in his garden, when passersby noticed him prostrate. He was laid upon the porch and medical aid summoned. He had apparently died instantly from appoplexy (sic).

Mr. HOOPES was seventy-four years of age and was married October 12th, 1869. Mrs. HOOPES died December 26th, 1913. They resided on a farm two and a half miles east of Fairfield until 1894, when they built the present West Broadway residence.

For the past year and a half Mr. HOOPES has divided his time between his home here and that of Dr. George Mount at Cedar Falls.

Funeral arrangements will not be made until the arrival of the latter in this city.
