FUNERAL FOR BEN H. ADKINS. Near 300 Service Men Followed Flag-Draped Casket of Man Who Fell in France.

The funrst funeral here of an American soldier who was killed overseas was held in the Central Park Sunday afternoon. The service was for Ben H. ADKINS, who was killed September 12, 1918, in the St. Mihiel drive. About 300 soldiers in uniform marched in the procession which escorted the flag draped steel casket from Kerrick's undertaking parlors to Central Park and later to the cemetery, Allen Jewett Post No. 47 American Legion having charge.... Rev. R. H. Polly, pastor of the Christian Church, called attention to the fact that this was the first body of a soldier to be brought back to Fairfield for burial, and, in a sense, it was representative of all the boys who gave their lives in the great World War....
