Sudden Death of Jno. W. COX.

Jno. W. COX died last Thursday morning at his home here. He had been out shoveling snow from the walks, came in, and in the act of turning a light fell to the floor and ere members of the family could reach him had breathed his last.

Deceased was born in Pennsylvania, May 26, 1838. He came to Fairfield at an early age and has since made this place his home. He was married to Sarah TEMPLE in 1860, who with two children, Jno. COX Jr., and Mrs. Jno. MULLENIX, are left to mourn the loss of a good husband and kind father.

For a number of years Mr. COX has been a faithful laborer for the city. He has been a faithful and consistent member of the Christian church since early manhood.

Funeral services were conducted from the home by Rev. Littleton, and the remains laid to rest in Evergreen cemetery (sic - Old Fairfield Cemetery). There are many to sympathize with the bereaved ones in their hour of sorrow.

*Transcribed for genealogy purposes; I have no relation to the person(s) mentioned.

Note: His obituary notes he was born in 1838, but his gravestone has the birth year of 1836.
