"Fairfield Ledger", Feb. 12, 1879, Pg. 3, Col. 3

Many friends in this vicinity will learn with regret of the death of Mr. A. B. FERGUSON, which occurred at his home in this city Monday afternoon. He had been ill for many years, and had been confined to the house for some time by disease contracted while in the army, where he served with honor and distinction, and came out with the rank of lieutenant. Mr. FERGUSON was sixty years of age, and had resided in Fairfield many years. He was an ordained minister of the M.E. Church, and his sermons have often been listened to in our pulpits. As a man, a soldier and a friend he was highly esteemed... He will be buried with military honors.
