... John FOXE (sic - FOX, throughout), an old and well known citizen of Fairfield, died at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Elizabeth McALLISTER, Sunday afternoon, from an apoplectic stroke....

Mr. FOXE was born in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, July 16, 1808, where he was married to Margaret WYCOFF, who died in 1845. He removed to Fairfield in 1856, and has since been a resident of this city. A plain unassuming man, his pleasant manner and kindly disposition won for him many friends who will regret his death.

Four children survive: two sons, W.W. of Lewiston, Ill., and J.B. of Richland; Mrs. McALLISTER of this city, and Mrs. John DUNCAN of Grand Forks, Dakota.....
