Mrs. J. W. MESSICK, a resident of this county for over forty years, died at her home in this city Friday night. Her death was caused by heart trouble, from which she had suffered fro (sic) some time.
Mrs. MESSICK was born in Knox County, Ohio, in 1827, her maiden name being Rebecca HAYWOOD. In 1847 she removed with her mother to Iowa and the following year was married to J. W. MESSICK. Four children were the result of this union, three of whom, Charles of Glenwood Springs, Col.; James and Mrs. P. E. PARSONS of this city, survive her. Of the eldest son nothing has been heard for years. Deceased was a kind hearted and sympathetic woman and her death will be mourned by many friends. The remains were interred in the old cemetery Sunday at 2 o'clock, Rev. E. A. Arnold conducting the services.
