DEATH OF JOSEPH BLAKELEY... A resident of Jefferson County for over half a century, died at his home in Buchanan Township two miles southeast of this city Wednesday morning... (Meningitis, from burial permit)....

He was born in Butler County, Penn., Dec. 27th, 1824, and grew to manhood there. June 28th, 1848, he was married to Miss Margaret HARRIS and lived in Butler County until their removal to Iowa in 1850. Two years after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. BLAKELEY removed to this county and settled on the farm in Buchanan Township, where they have since made their home.

Eight children were born of their marriage, seven of whom are living: Mrs. J. STONE, Mrs. Mary McKINNEY, Mrs. H. ORIEZ, John, Oscar, George and James, the latter's home being in Wyoming. The aged wife and children were with him in his last illness... The funeral was held from the family home Friday afternoon at 2 0'clock, the services being conducted by Rev. J. F. Magill, pastor of the Presbyterian Church. Interment was made in the City Cemetery.
